DPI is dots per inch, it also relates directly to the mouse READING, along with the movement on screen. So that said, if you use a 1024x786 screen rez, and you having a 1000DPI mouse, it would 'technicly' take 1 inch to move from one side to the other.

But it also relates to how many 'screen shots' the mouse takes per second. So higher dpi = more screen shots per 'movement cycle' which translates into a smoother movement of your mouse, and yields a higher speed.

You can also reduce your movement speed (most commonly done in the game you are playing) to adjust the higher speed.

So if you go from a 400 dpi mouse with 4 sensitivity, a 1600 DPI mouse and a 1 sensitivity would give you the same speed, but higher precision.

You have to watch out for which mouse you buy and do research, SOME MICE labled as high gaming mice, react strange to high dpi / low sensitivity and develope the situation of 'negitive accel' So please do research into the mice you are buying.

Good mice would be razer death adder, logitech G5 (G9 is new but expensive).

The mouse DPI means that, the number of points in 1 cm squre which are been reading by mouse sensor. the more DPI, the better mouse reaction.

Hand Grip merupakan cara memegang mouse.

Ada 3 macam Hand Grip :

1. Palm Grip :
The most commonly used method to hold a computer mouse is what is known as the “palm grip.” This method involves the user placing his entire hand onto the top of the mouse, resting his palm and the pit of his hand on the rear of the mouse’s shell. The mouse is held and controlled by the user pinching his hand together to hold the mouse between his thumb, the heel of his palm and his ring or pinkie fingers. The index and middle fingers are usually placed fully on the left and right mouse buttons respectively. A slight variation of the palm grip style is where the pinkie finger is used as the right side stabilizer to hold the mouse, with the index, middle and ring fingers placed on the left button, scroll wheel and right button respectively.

The palm grip is defined by the fact that the entire surface of the user’s fingers and palm make contact with the surface of the mouse and the contact points on the mouse are large and undefined.

Actuation of the left and right mouse button is achieved by clicking either button with the entire index or middle finger, essentially pressing the entire length of either finger down to actuate the respective button.

The palm grip is most commonly used with ergonomic mice; that is, mice with contours that match the shape and natural curvature of a human hand. Such ergonomic mice are also typically only able to be used in one specific hand – i.e. either the right hand or the left hand.

While this grip style is not used exclusively with ergonomic mice, the palm grip is most often used on ergonomic mice as the high-arched back common to ergonomic mice will allow the user’s palm and the entire length of his index and middle fingers to come in contact with the top of the mouse. Since the user’s hand almost entirely “rests” on the mouse, many users attest this to be the most comfortable way to hold a mouse.





2. Claw Grip :
The claw grip is another style of holding a computer mouse that requires a user to arch his hand and form a claw shape, pulling the mouse in so the rear end of the mouse is stabilized by barely touching the pit of the user’s hand.

The claw grip is defined by the fact that six contact points are made on the surface of the mouse.

The claw grip is most often characterized by the arching fingers required to hold the mouse and press each mouse button. The formation of the user’s fingers and the retracted stance of the hand over the mouse make this grip vaguely resemble the claw of a bird, which is where the style draws its moniker. The mouse is held and controlled by the tips of the user’s index and ring or pinkie fingers and stabilized by the pit of the user’s hand so the mouse does not sway when it is lifted.

Actuation of the left and right mouse button is achieved by clicking either button with the tip of the user’s index or middle finger.

The claw grip can be used with any mouse, but is most commonly used with mice with a high profile and high lipped edges, so the mouse can be held by the user’s fingertips without accidentally actuating the mouse’s side buttons and so the mouse can be lifted repeatedly and quickly. High lipped edges are ideal contact points for the claw and fingertip grip as they keep the fingertips away from the mousing surface, which can cause “finger drag” and therefore reduce speed and accuracy.





3. Fingertip Grip :
The fingertip grip is considered to be a subset of the claw grip, where the user grips the mouse solely with the tips of his fingers. While this grip style strictly speaking falls within the ambit of the claw grip subset, it is a popular grip, particularly amongst proponents of certain genres of games, thus elevating it to the status of a primary grip style for gameplay. Unlike the claw grip, the hand is moved away from the rear of the mouse as the user is not concerned with stabilizing the rear of the mouse in his hand and wants increased precision and control of the mouse on the mousing surface instead.

The fingertip grip is defined by the fact that there are five contact points made on the surface of the mouse. Note that the sixth contact point found in the claw grip is no longer present (i.e. contact with the pit of the hand), which is a defining factor of the fingertip grip.

The fingertip grip is usually used only with small, low profile mice such as the Razer Salmosa. This style promotes the most amount of precision and agility, but can cause a high amount of fatigue due to the fact that the user’s fingertips will need to make more adjustments during gameplay.
